Scissor lift & EWP hire costs in Auckland
What to check before accepting a quote.
Scissor lift and ewp hire costs depend on the machine, hire period, delivery location and what the quote includes. To compare quotes properly, ask for the total for the same job and dates, including delivery, collection, GST and any applicable extras.
You have a job to price, people to organise and a start date to work towards. A clear hire quote helps you put those pieces together without guessing what the equipment will actually cost.
Versatile Hire provides scissor lift and elevated work platform (EWP) hire for trade and commercial customers across Auckland, with a minimum hire period of seven days.
What affects the cost of scissor lift & ewp hire?
The machine your job needs
Different machines suit different jobs. The height you need to reach, available space, ground conditions and platform load all help determine the suitable options. Those options can have different hire rates.
Describe the work before settling on a machine. That gives the hire company something useful to price and reduces the chance of having to change your booking later.
How long you need it?
Ask for a quote covering the expected hire period. If the project is likely to run for several weeks or months, say so at the start. Ask how an extension would be priced, too.
At Versatile Hire, hire starts from seven days. Multi-week and long-term requirements can be discussed with Lewis, including projects needing a machine for six months or longer.
Getting the machine to and from your site
Check whether delivery and collection are included in the total or shown separately. Give the worksite address and mention access restrictions or delivery windows before the quote is prepared.
Versatile Hire arranges delivery and collection Monday to Friday. Customer pickup is not available. Where possible, allow at least two business days to organise the machine and transport.
What should you check in a hire quote
When comparing quotes, use this checklist. These are questions to ask any supplier; the answers depend on their quote and hire terms.
Equipment: Which machine is being quoted, and is it suitable for the stated work?
Hire period: What dates and minimum period does the price cover? How are additional days or weeks charged?
Transport: Does the total include both delivery and collection?
GST: Is the amount shown inclusive or exclusive of GST?
Other costs: Could fuel, cleaning, usage limits or other conditions change the final amount?
Damage and theft: What are your responsibilities, and what cover or waiver arrangements, if any, apply?
Changes and completion: What happens if the dates change, and how do you notify the supplier that the hire is finished?
A clear quote gives you a figure you can work with. If something is missing, ask before accepting it.
Plan the work as well as the hire
Imagine a commercial fit-out where the ceiling work cannot begin until another contractor has finished. A lift arriving before the area is ready could spend part of the hire waiting for work. This is a planning example, but it shows why the delivery date matters as much as the rate.
Before confirming the booking, check that the work area will be available, materials will be ready and the people doing the job can use the equipment during the planned period.
If several stages of the project need access equipment, ask for the cost of keeping a suitable machine on site throughout, then compare that with separate hires and transport. The better option depends on the gaps between tasks and the quoted costs.
Tell Lewis if the programme changes
If you expect to need the lift for longer, contact Lewis before the agreed hire period ends. An extension needs confirmation and depends on availability.
Before the job finishes, confirm the collection arrangements and exactly when hire charges stop. Do not assume finishing the work automatically ends the hire.
Common questions about scissor lift hire costs
How much does a scissor lift or ewp cost to hire for a week
The weekly cost depends on the selected machine, worksite location and quote inclusions. For a useful price, send your required working height, site details and proposed dates. Versatile Hire will check the requirements and availability before providing a quote.
Is delivery included in the hire price
Check the individual quote. Delivery and collection may be included in a total or listed separately. Ask for both to be accounted for so you can budget for the complete hire.
Is a longer hire always better value
It depends on how often the machine will be used and the cost of keeping it between tasks. Ask for a quote for the full period and compare the total with separate hires, including transport. A longer booking does not automatically mean a lower overall cost.
Can I hire from Versatile Hire for one day
Versatile Hire has a seven-day minimum and focuses on planned trade and commercial hire. It does not offer day hire or private-customer hire.

Your name, business name and contact details.
The worksite address and a short description of the job.
The height you need to reach and whether the work is indoors or outdoors.
Your proposed start date and expected hire duration.
Ground conditions and any delivery or access restrictions.
If access is tight, include photos and measurements. Lewis can review the details, check availability and provide a quote based on your project.
